Find the unexpected | Destin Sandlin | TEDxVienna

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Discovery often happens outside your comfort zone. It’s when you step out into the unknown that interesting discoveries start to take place. When they do, it’s your responsibility to share the knowledge with society.

Destin Sandlin is an aerospace and mechanical engineer from Alabama and the creator of Smarter Every Day, a YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers and 125 million views. He’s curious about the world and the science behind everyday occurrences. Some of his most popular videos involve investigating helicopter physics, finding butterflies in the Amazon, shooting an AK-47 underwater and dropping cats in weightlessness.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
